What To Expect

New Patient (Emergency) If you are experiencing dental pain or sensitivity, or have a fractured tooth/crown/denture or partial, or other emergency situation, we will quickly see you at your visit. Once paperwork is filled out and entered into our system a radiograph (x ray) will be taken of your problem area, next, Dr. Skinner will evaluate the area to determine the treatment needed. Next the options for treatment will be presented in an easy to understand fashion, along with the cost/insurance benefit, the time of treatment plus the prognosis of treatment. Either the treatment will be performed at this initial visit or scheduled at a more convenient time if necessary. Expect this visit to last approximately 60-90 minutes.

New Patient (Exam) If you are visiting our office for the first time without immediate (painful) concerns, having a full treatment plan exam is for you. Once paperwork is filled out and entered into our system, all patients will have a panoramic radiograph and four bitewing type radiographs (x rays) taken. These diagnostic records will allow Dr. Skinner to complete a full comprehensive exam of your teeth and mouth. Next Dr. Skinner will meet with you to discuss your concerns and needs. Using the radiographs a full cosmetic, restorative, and periodontal evaluation can take place as well as a screening for Oral Cancer. Dr. Skinner goes to great lengths to ensure that all treatment recommendations are presented in an easy to understand fashion; sometimes including demonstration movies, models, and photos. If no significant periodontal disease is present at the initial exam, all efforts will be made to provide you with a cleaning at the same visit. Expect this visit to last approximately 60-90 minutes.

**All new patients whether coming in for an emergency or a new patient exam are encouraged to click on the above link and fill out the required patient paperwork online and submit it to us. This will expedite your waiting time.

**Also all new patients are encouraged to bring their Drivers license and Insurance card (if applicable) with them at their first visit so the necessary copies can be made and placed into your record.

**If for some reason you have had x-rays taken at a different dental office less than 6 months prior to your appointment you can contact that office and obtain copies of these x rays and bring them with you to your appointment. (However, this is your responsibility, Dr. Skinner’s office is not responsible for contacting and securing your older x rays and will not provide care for patients without current radiographs).
